Glenariff Forest Park is a beautiful and scenic area, situated in County Antrim. The forest park is part of the famous nine ‘Glens of Antrim’.Glenariff is known as the ‘Queen of the Glens’ and you can see why when you visit. It is considered by many people to be the most beautiful Glen of all. The forest park has three spectacular waterfalls. You can see them by following the marked trails within the forest. There are four trails in total, each varying in distance and scenery. The longest walk is approx. 5miles. It is not suitable for childrens pushchairs and proper walking footwear should be worn as there are quite steep steps on route. The whole area around the forest has now been combined to form a larger park. It includes Glenariff Forest, Parkmore Forest and several small lakes and recreation areas. Most of the area is being used for planting of new trees.
Within a short walking distance from the forest, there are caravan and camping facilities. I have camped there myself and must say it was an enjoyable experience to get up early in the morning and see all kinds of wildlife roaming freely and undisturbed.
Enjoy Some Light Refreshment…
You have to pay to park your car in the main forest carpark. If this puts you off visiting or you’re only going to have a look at the stunning waterfalls, then you should park at Laragh Lodge. It’s right in the heart of the forest.

Their carpark is free and it’s a great place to have lunch or a few drinks after your ramble in the forest. You can find Laragh Lodge by driving about two miles past the main forest entrance. Their entrance is on the right and is signposted. Are you visiting Glenariff on holiday? This is a great place to spend a few nights. You are right in the heart of County Antrim which has the best tourist attractions in Northern Ireland and some would argue the best attractions in the whole island of Ireland. You are only a short drive from the Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge and the world famous Bushmills Distillery. If you are looking for somewhere nice to stay with the freedom to come and go as you please, I fully recommend Callisnagh House & Cottage. With many great facilities in the area such as fishing, horse riding and golfing, you are only ten minutes walking distance from the scenic forest park walks, beautiful waterfalls and Laragh Lodge restaurant.

This is the main waterfall at Glenariff Forest Park. I took this photograph for my Digital Photography website to explain how to photograph waterfalls. I like the way the water has a lovely silky effect on it. 98 Glenariff Road, Ballymena, BT44 0QX
